Born and raised in Lexington, N.C., I grew up in the small community of Reeds, just on the westside of town. From an early age, I discovered that drawing was my favorite pastime. I also found a love for automobiles. Most of my subject matter usually contained anything with 2 or 4 wheels and sometimes, tractor trailer trucks with all the chromed stacks and grilles.

Then in the late 70's and early 80's, tv was flooded with shows that featured a car or truck as the main focal point. The Dukes of Hazzard was by far my favorite. Also, there was Knight Rider, Fall Guy, Hardcastle & McCormick, BJ & the Bear and many more. It was just a plethora of vehicles. It wasn't long until this thing called NASCAR caught my eye. With cool drivers and fast, colorful race cars...I was hooked.

Throughout my high school years, I attended every art class available. Most of my drawings and sketches contained some form of racing. Graduating in 1989 from West Davidson High School, I then went on to earn a degree in commercial graphics in 1992 from Randolph Community College. Learning new techniques with markers and pencils, I wanted to apply that knowledge to some of the ideas and images from my youth. The days of the #88 Gatorade Monte Carlo with Ole D.W. and a man they call the intimidator. From a Pass In The Grass, an Icky Shuffle, some very special Daytona 500 wins to a King's 200th victory and "The Kid" getting his first win at Charlotte in 1994 (I was there). Even the most famous words in racing... no not Gentleman Start Your Engines, but BOOGITY, BOOGITY, BOOGITY can still bring out the goose bumps. There's nothing like the rumble of 43 cars coming up to speed at the green flag or the smell of high octane racing fuel with the passing of every car. It's the sights, sounds, smells and pure excitement of racing that has inspired me for so long and in so many ways.

It's been a life-long dream to be able to express my love for drawing to others. There is so much gratification seeing someone else enjoy my work and appreciate the time and passion that goes into every illustration.
